Welcome at the "Refuge des Ecrins" (Club Alpin Francais)!

Jean Faure is the new guardian of the refuge, open this year from the 4th of april, 2009.

The "refuge of Ecrins" is located on the Pelvoux area, along the "Glacier Blanc" glacier.

Access by road :
Start : Pré de Madame Carle (1874 m)From Briançon or Gap > l'Argentière la Bessée > Vallouise > Pelvoux > Ailefroide > Pré de Madame Carle (The road is usually open at the beginning of may).
In winter, the road is closed at Pelvoux ("Les claux") point, just before the tunnel (1265m).
In spring, the road is open : first, until Ailefroide (1540m), and then until "Pont du Ban" (1845m) and when the snow is being removed from it, until " Pré de Mme Carle".

Possible accesses in winter :
- From the Serre Chevalier (Monêtier les Bains) ski area : "Col du Monêtier".
- Access from the traverse of " Neige Cordier" from Villard d'Arêne : see ski routes.
- Access from "la Bérarde" (Col des Ecrins) : see ski and hiking routes.
By feet :
Get first the "refuge of glacier blanc", then get the glacier and walk up until the refuge. The refuge is located on this rocky promontory 100m above the glacier.
Denivellation : 1300m
